School Buses

Transportation here isn't quite the same as back home. In the Bangkok you could get the express buses which were typically air conditioned and in good shape, but you could also get non-air conditioned buses, or even half-ton trucks that were fitted up with seats and a shade cover in the back.

School buses are similar. You don't see the big yellow school buses that we see at home. You often see school buses that are really just trucks filled with students. I don't think they have the same safety rules here.
Speaking of safety rules... the other day we were in the market and this motorbike went by. It was a man with his daughter. The daughter who I was probably no more than two was standing on the seat behind him with her hands resting on his shoulders! Of course nobody has helmets on here either.

The kids have become quite accustomed to no helmets when biking. We're also less diligent with seat belts (often there aren't any in the back seat). It's kind of surprising how quickly we forget about all those rules.
