The Louvre

The Louvre is huge. It is far too big to do in just one day, and it’s easy to get lost in its many rooms. At one point there was an announcement asking us to go to the nearest exit. We tried, but by the time we found one, they no longer wanted us out!

As we entered the Louvre coming from the metro, we saw the two points of the Pyramid. It seemed to glow as we saw it through the doorway.

We walked along, enjoying many Italian paintings before we reached room 6 on the first floor, where a certain famous lady was waiting for us. Monna Lisa smiled for us, but she seems to smile for everybody!

After visiting more paintings and taking a tour of replicas of Napoleon’s apartments (pretty swanky), and getting lost a few times, we eventually found our way out.

It was a short walk to Place de la Concorde which is where King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were beheaded. Yasmin and Roya wanted to see the guillotine, but surprise, surprise, it was no longer there.

The Concorde is also where the Champs Elysees begins. So we walked along the famous street. We stopped at a cafe for some coffee, tea and pastries before continuing on to the Arc de Triomphe.

We have one last night in Paris before we pick up our car and go to Versailles and then Dijon. Can’t believe how fast the time is passing.

Jeremy will be jealous. He wanted to go to the Louvre last summer when we were in Paris, but we didn't have time. If you have nice weather tomorrow, check out the Luxembourg Gardens before you go.
