A Walk Through Dijon

Renee took us for a walk through Dijon. It's a beautiful, little city and the sun was shining - perfect for touring the city on foot.

Dijon has many churches, old streets, and markets. It was Sunday so it wasn't bustling quite the way it usually does.

In front of the town hall buildings there were fountains. The kids couldn't resist playing in them and before we knew it they had big smiles on their faces, but wet shoes on their feet.

We went to Arad and Karine's place for lunch. Their apartment is very unique with the old wooden beams in the ceiling exposed. It was very cosy and we took our time over lunch. We've been enjoying great food, wonderful cheeses, and french pastries. I'm going to need to do a lot more walking if I don't want to start wearing a larger pant size!

After lunch we visited the cemetery where Nadim's uncle and grandmother were buried. By this time it had started to rain. Somehow the rain seemed fitting. The kids left some sea shells on the graves. This has become a tradition. When the family travel to different areas they bring back a rock or a shell or some such thing and put it on the grave.

We ended the day at Renee's apartment. When it was time for Arad, Karine, and Hannah to leave for the evening, it wasdifficult to say goodbye and we kept prolonging it. It's always nice to see everyone, but difficult to part ways again. Tomorrow we start early on a long drive to Austria.
