Semur-En-Auxois

The kids had a great sleep over and even got some sleep! This morning they returned to us with Arad, Karine and Hannah and we all set out for Semur-En-Auxois.

Semur-En-Auxois is a medieval town that has been preserved in the traditional style. We visited the church at the heart of the town and then walked along the river at its base.
It also has a castle with four towers, but it was not open for touring. We strolled through the town. Karine’s family lives nearby and she pointed out a school that she used to attend. It has now been turned into a museum!
We had a leisurely lunch at one of the cafes in the middle of the town. It was warm and sunny and perfect for sitting outside. On our way back to Dijon, we stopped at another town, Chateauneuf, which is located on the top of a hill. It is another picturesque village with a castle in its centre. We explored the castle and then had afternoon tea/coffee/coke/ice-cream at another little cafe.

It was an enjoyable day and we felt very French with our drive through the beautiful Bourgogne countryside and so many stops at cafes!
