Some Like it Hot

Well, it was 33 degrees at 9 this morning, and felt like 40 with the humidity. We are very thankful for our air-conditioned hotel room.

We ventured out to the Margao market around 4 and looked at some of the shops. There were all kinds of souvenirs, furniture, fruits, vegetables, nuts, plastic jewellery, real(?) jewellery, clothing, fabric, etc. for sale and we wandered through it all and looked at a few things. We walked over to the municipal gardens in an attempt to find some shade and beat the heat, but it was way too hot, even in the shade.

We were invited to the Baha’i Centre for dinner and it was great to have a nice chat about the goings-on in India, the various activities in Goa and life in general. The family that lives there has a little boy, so Yasmin and Roya played with him and kept busy. We had a very nice meal of chicken curry, fried chicken, lentils, salad, etc. Very tasty. People eat dinner quite late here – around 10 o’clock, so it felt like we were eating very early even though it was 9 o’clock!

We are going to Panjim tomorrow afternoon to explore some other areas and also head to Anjuna beach and Old Goa. But more on those later.
